The Jaguar F-Type, especially in the versions powered by Jaguar's 5 liter V8, has quickly earned a reputation as a car that prefers to travel everywhere sideways. The standard F-Type R Coupe has 542 horsepower on tap just waiting to shred the rear tires, which would seem to be more than enough for anyone looking to hoon around a track. Fortunately for those that somehow think the F-Type could use a bit more power, the Texas-based tuning company Hennessey has prepared an even more deranged version, known as the HPE600 upgrade.
The Hennessey F-Type took the F-Type's original engine, capable of 542 horsepower and 502 lb ft of torque, and modified it to produce some scary numbers. We're talking 623 horsepower and 568 lb ft, which is a lot. This significant power increase allows the F-Type R Coupe to reach 60 mph from 0 in 3.5 seconds, far ahead of the 4.0-second time of the original car. The Hennessey is also capable of flying through the standing quarter mile in 11.4 seconds at 126 mph.
My favorite part about this car is that, despite the upgrades, the exhaust note is still one of the most fantastic and brutal sounds you'll ever hear. The standard F-Type V8's ludicrous rumbling and crackling is part of what makes it such an appealing car, so retaining that iconic sound is a definite plus. So if you're in the market for a very fast, beautiful car with a cringe-worthy tendency to oversteer, you just might want to give Hennessey a call. Below you'll find a video of Hennessey testing its newest creation, so make sure to turn your speakers up.
