Since it’s a little cold here in the Midwest (not that I’m complaining), I thought it would be nice to share a heart-warming story involving BMW. No, BMWs not starting background checks on whether who/what can own and operate their vehicles (though that is a great idea). What I am about to share is the story of a man, his grandfather, and their love affair with BMWs.
One day, Shawn Molnar, who is writer for BMWBlog, and his grandfather (we’ll refer to him as Grandpa Dick) were having the chat that every self-respecting grandson should have with his grandpa; a chat about chasing girls. Midway into their talk about carousing females, Grandpa Dick decided to shift into the wonderful topic of automobiles. He whipped out a vintage Kelly Blue Book and pointed at a BMW 325is e30. Grandpa Dick expressed his love for this car, and Shawn knew what to get his grandpa someday.
The thing is, e30 3-series are rare to come by these days, especially good ones. Unfazed by this, Shawn set out to get his grandpa his first BMW. After hounding every lead he had, Shawn was presented with the opportunity to get a pristine 88’ 735i. He took it without hesitation, cleaned it up really good, and presented to his grandpa with the help of a friend and BMW of Canada.
Without doubt, the reaction on Grandpa Dicks face is heartwarming. Shawn’s work proves that car people come in all types. It also shows the power of thinking of those who help you grow up. I hope you all learn something from this story. I sure did.
